Below the picture are her words:
You’ve always been told to respect your elders.
That doesn’t mean just be nice to your elders (though you should).
And it doesn’t mean you should visit more often (also a good idea).
It means you should listen to them.
They’ve had a long life.
And with that comes knowledge.
Getting a glimpse of that is the idea behind the Wisdom Project.
It brought together dozens of luminaries from different backgrounds and cultures.
And they were asked about life and wisdom.
Take a minute and listen. You’ll be glad you did.
Here's the link...What is wisdom?
Now my words...
I also grew up to respect my elders...still do,
although I've become one of them...
But I don't think the culture today is the same.
Not that all the young ones are disrespectful.
There are some wonderful young people
who just amaze me, and I am in awe of them.
But I still think there are some who believe
us *old farts* are just taking up space.
Do you remember the saying from the 60's...
"Never trust anyone over 30"?
Even then, when 30 sounded ancient to me,
I wondered what they would say
when they turned 30...And they did...
I watched a program on PBS last night that was about Happiness..
Interesting to say the least.
So, what makes people Happy?
You can see the information on pbs.org
Then search.. This Emotional Life ..and watch a trailer on it.
Or even the videos.
Sure made me stop wondering about my life.
I've been in a slump..winter blues I think.
My daughter told me the other night that
I need to find my *Happy Place* again.
She's right. Just need to figure out where to start looking for it...
So, guess my opinion on all this is...
*With Wisdom Comes Happiness*
We just need to be smart enough to find it.
Or is the right word Lucky enough?
Or both
hmmmmm...
Hope you take the time to see the links, then tell me your thoughts.
And thanks again for listening...

Such a wonderful post! Thank you! I find as I get older I appreciate the wisdom of my elders much more than I did as a youngster. But then, I knew it ALL back then right? haha
I hope you get to your happy place...it's there, you're just going through a little winter funk. We all are sometimes :)
Many big hugs,
Darla
I enjoyed this post so much and I adore these photo's of the elderly people. The top one especially you can see the love and respect for each other. I will have to play the video another time cause this computer is working on air. Thanks for the memories and all the nice comments on my blog. Yeah next door is a beautiful home and no dogs up here just coyotes. In this area you can't let your dogs run loose or you'll hear about it big time. We have by laws here and I was real worried about that but there really cool here. I love watching the coyotes and the other wild life and there's a spider up here I have never seen he's like a light tan teranchala and big as a large walnut! yuck! Oh the adventure
I saw that show on PBS too...made me stop and think too! Loved your post today. Thyanks so much for sharing...and all the links too!
Stay Cozy, Carrie
Thanks for stopping by ladies! This was just something good to share, glad you liked it...
Hugs,
Vicki
