JUST NOT *SEXY*?

Oh my....
This is something I found in a local newspaper and thought I'd share.
I only copied parts of it that I thought might be of interest...

Is blogging a slog?

Some young people

think so.

Could it be that blogs have become online fodder for the -- gasp! --more mature reader?
A new study has found that young people are losing interest inlong-form blogging, as their communication habits have becomeincreasingly brief, and mobile. Tech experts say it doesn't meanblogging is going away. Rather, it's gone the way of the telephone ande-mail -- still useful, just not sexy.

So why are young people lessinterested in blogging? The explosion of social networking is oneobvious answer. A survey has found that nearly three-quarters of 12- to17-year-olds who haveaccess to the Internet use social networking sites, such as Facebook.
That compares with 55 percent four years ago. With social networkinghas come the ability to do a quick status update and that has kind ofsucked the life out of long-form blogging. More young people are also accessing the Internet from their mobilephones, only increasing the need for brevity. New Yorker Jackie Huanghasn't made a posting on her long-form blog in two years, and she nowuses Facebook and Twitter because her friends do. "My blog was my own little soapbox," says Huang, who now works fora communications agency. "Unfortunately, I don't think I'm interestingenough for my followers to want to know where I am every hour of theday and what I'm thinking. I'm not Ashton Kutcher, and I don't postracy pictures of Demi Moore in her skivvies."
"Blogging is actually aquite involved form of self-expression. It takes a lot of time andeffort," says Eszter Hargittai, an associate professor ofcommunications studies at Northwestern University. She and other tech experts also suspect that fewer young peoplehave an interest in sharing their every thought with the whole world."Five years ago blogging was a club," says Sifry of Technorati."There was this wonderful, delicious feeling of being able to talkprivately or semi-privately with people who shared your interests. Few doubt that blogging will die. Those whoblog for personal reasons may focus more on events -- a wedding, atrip, a baby's birth.

So, what do YOU think? My thoughts are...
let the youngsters have their short little Tweets and FaceBook notes.
Let them be on the fast paced run...

Me, I plan to continue doing my *Un Sexy* Blogging,
 and age in style!

Like I commented over there, it [this entry] showed up in my Google Reader. [That which I use to see new posts on blogs I follow.]

May I ask something, and I suppose it would best be replied to, in email? Do you have a specific reason for having these two blogs going? 'All My Yesterdays" and "Change In A Bottle"?

My 'Aunt Amelia's Attic' is my general all purpose blog. "Gals With Grandmother Faces" is devoted to issues of aging. And "Pix Muse" is just for photos I have taken.

Have I missed the "why" of your different blogs? I know I miss things, so if I did, I apologize. Please and thank you.

Aunt Amelia, I can answer that here, in case anyone else is wondering...

This is the first blog I started and just wanted to share memories of my life. That was fine for awhile, but then I decided to do one about my crafty side. And thought of putting some google ad's on, maybe make a little 'Change'. Well, I decided that just wasn't my cup a tea. I still did some crafty stuff. But then it became my...ummm alter ego blog?

So 'Yesterdays' is mostly my memories. 'Change' is a little sillier or something, I guess. And who knows what it may still morph into...change is good!

The other one I still need to either work on some more or just save it for the Boutique stuff.

Hope that answered the question of WHY... And hope you'll still visit to see *both* of me (O:
