FROM THE DORM...

Yes, finally a picture OUTSIDE of the dorm...

Thought I'd better get one before I'm not here anymore.

I'm on the bottom floor. That first small window you see there to the right is the shared bathroom.  The bigger window to the left of that is where she lives. The one to the right of it is my room.

Ok, here's the window. I have no idea what the reflection is...

The window I've taken pictures out of is the one on the left. The one next to that is the room of 'The guy on the other side of the wall'..

Just wanted to let you know I'll still have the internet through Sunday night. Then not again until Monday afternoon. Doesn't mean I'll post much though, this moving takes time..

I'll be back again with pictures of where I'm going.

Everyone have a great weekend..

FROM THE DORM...

And this may well be the last post from here...

I finally got housing!

Get the key Thursday afternoon :)

Then the fun of moving again starts...blah.

But I'm excited to be doing it this time.

Finally get my life out of storage,

Have more room,

Won't be sharing a bathroom,

Have more to clean,

Have a lawn to water and mow,

And a long driveway to shovel snow from,

Ummm, ya.

I may miss this little room someday....

I may not have the computer hooked up in the house until next week either.

I'll find out tomorrow and let you know.

But hey...

I GET A HOUSE TO LIVE IN !
AFTER FOUR MONTHS,
TWELVE DAYS
AND A FEW HOURS :)

I'll share pictures as soon as I can

My good friends sister died this morning...

AND I SOLD MY HOUSE!!!

As for the Dorm, same ol same ol....no housing yet :(

Ok, more tomorrow sometime.

Think I'll go see if my dream world is any different..

Good Night

FROM THE DORM...

Here it is, August already.

I'm still in the dorm...since April 6th.

I'm melting..

and can't even think of what to write on a blog.

So I'm going to be obnoxious and share something someone else wrote.

Then turn off the wall unit that thinks it's a cooler (it's too noisy)...

Open the windows...

Close my eyes..

And wait to hear the  bugle from headquarters..

at 6 AM.

Awww, life in the fast lane.....

If you're not familiar with the work of Steven Wright, he's the famous erudite scientist who once said: "I woke up one morning, and all of my stuff had been stolen and replaced by exact duplicates".

His mind sees things differently than most of us do.

Here are some of his gems:

1 - I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.

2 - Borrow money from pessimists -- they don't expect it back.

3 - Half the people you know are below average.

4 - 99% of lawyers give the rest a bad name.

5 - 82.7% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

6 - A conscience is what hurts when all your other parts feel so good.

7 - A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory.

8 - If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain.

9 - All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand.

10 - The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese..

11 - I almost had a psychic girlfriend...  but she left me before we met.

12 - OK, so what's the speed of dark?

13 - How do you tell when you're out of invisible ink?

14 - If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked
something.

15 - Depression is merely anger without enthusiasm.

16 - When everything is coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.

17 - Ambition is a poor excuse for not having enough sense to be lazy.

18 - Hard work pays off in the future; laziness pays off now.

19 - I intend to live forever... so far, so good.

20 - If Barbie is so popular, why do you have to buy her friends?

21 - Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

22 - What happens if you get scared half to death twice?

23 - My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your
horn louder."

24 - Why do psychics have to ask you for your name?

25 - If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried.

26 - A conclusion is the place where you got tired of thinking.

27 - Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

28 - The hardness of the butter is proportional to the softness of the
bread.

29 - To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is
research.

30 - The problem with the gene pool is that there is no lifeguard.

31 - The sooner you fall behind, the more time you'll have to catch up.

32 - The colder the x-ray table, the more of your body is required to be on
it.

33 - Everyone has a photographic memory; some just don't have film.

34 - If your car could travel at the speed of light, would your headlights
work?

Now, if only I had a mind like that....

CONTINUING STORY FROM THE DORM...

Some dang funny comments left on
the previous post...I love it!

Well, I haven't been robbed, hit by a tornado, reverted back to the teen years or lost something besides my mind. It wasn't the cat that I don't have, the grandkiddo's, bugs, painting, or even me throwing things!

Oh how I wish it was that I'm FINALLY...
moving into housing.

But no.

It's only that I've...

ACQUIRED A FLUSH MATE.

'A what?' you ask.

F.L.U.S.H.  M.A.T.E.

Ok, back to yesterday's post,

do you remember these delightful images ?

Well, it's changed.

But first I had to do this...

With these....

While trying to understand the A into B through D using C......etc.

But it finally turned into THIS!

Which allowed me to do this..

(the bright Pepto Pink things are what I have to wear to work..)

And I took these...

Attached these...

Gathered these...

And this...

Added this...

Found places for everything else...

BLAH!

And now it looks like this..

And this..

And this..

Ok, so much for having an imagination :)

I even found the bed!

although it's been moved...

OK,

Back to the FLUSH MATE...

Yes, I'll be sharing this...

And I've added these...on both doors..

Hers...

And mine...

Cause I hate to think what will happen
if one of us forgets...

Kidneys having boat races!

AND...

I need to remember to do this...

on my dorm side of the door when I'm not in there...

This will be interesting.....

Ok, now that you've seen the rest of the story :)

I only have three little words to add....

THE END!

Oh, p.s.

She hasn't moved in yet...

FROM THE DORM...

HOLY HANNAH...

CRAP AND A HALF...

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DORM ROOM?

WELL, I'LL HAVE TO TELL MORE TOMORROW...

HOPEFULLY IN THE MORNING BEFORE WORK.

CAUSE IT'S LATE O'CLOCK AND I NEED TO GET TO BED!

IF I CAN FIND IT..............

G'NITE!

See ya Yesterday.........

FROM THE DORM...

I was here when the UPS truck came early this evening. I signed, said thanks, closed the door, found a pen to cut through the tape across the top of the box, ripped it open and......

My heart swelled, a big lump formed in my throat and I let the tears fall...

Story...

About 6 years ago I was in Park City with a daughter in law. We were looking in a home deco store and I saw a quilt. It wasn't the kind with squares sewn together, it was sewn with a little swirled pattern over a pretty print, which was roses on a tea stained color fabric. I fell in love with it, but couldn't afford it at the time. She told me it looked like me :)

Mothers day that year. My son and DIL gave me a quilt...but not that one. He said she thought I wanted a quilt but she couldn't remember what I liked. It was pretty, some light pink roses with tan stripes on a white background...on big sewn together squares. Of course I loved it, gave them hugs, kisses and a big thanks.

And kept seeing that other quilt...

I know you're shaking your head in agreement...you're glad they give you things, it's the thought thing you know. And you always love whatever it is.

But I kept seeing the other quilt.

I looked for it again whenever I was somewhere I thought one might be. Saw some kind of like it, but not. I just never saw that same quilt again.....until today.

I opened the box and said aloud, " that's MY quilt!"

I'm still tearing up telling you this. I can't believe it. Life's telling me something here....

Thanks isn't even close to being the thing to say to the friend who sent it.

So I won't....

I'll just say I love her, I'm so, so glad were friends, and that the quilt will always be there for me to snuggle up with and think of her...till it's thread bear...and then some..

Thing is, she never knew anything about the quilt I've always wanted.

The Universe was at work on this one...

FROM THE DORM....

Dang, it's almost Friday again!

I have all the info ready to finish the story of my great great grandparents..just NOT the time. Seems this taking care of parents thing really is time consuming..even with one of them not home anymore. And working. And trying to clean up an old trailer house that's needed a good cleaning for years. And trying to cook in a dorm. And all this.... whining...BLAH!

I'm so behind on my posting...should have taken the summer off. Well ok, glad I didn't. but I still feel like I'm a big fat SLUG! So instead of doing the YESTERDAY'S things, I've been doing the NOW things.

Which takes me to the fact that tomorrow...Friday the 9th, is my grand daughter Katie's Tenth birthday. I knew it was coming up but wasn't expecting it to smack me so hard in the forehead! WHERE DOES THE TIME GO TO ANYWAY??

This is from last year when we had lunch on her 9th one...

She say's I'm her Favorite Gramma :)

I'll talk to Katie tomorrow, go to her party up the canyon and ride horses on Saturday (ya, that's what she wanted to do..gotta find my boots somewhere) and clean more at dad's the rest of the time....

This all being said, I hope what's left of my awesome followers will still stop by and say hello once in awhile. I'm so sorry I haven't been keeping things up but hey, guess that's life in MY fast lane :)

Hope your Summer day's are nice and lazy, as mine use to be ......

See ya Yesterday.......

7/6/10

FROM THE DORM...

Here it is Tuesday already...and I still haven't lost it...(the key)

How did I spend my 3 day weekend? Same as I spent the prior week...cleaning.

Only it was at my dad's house. The stepmom is in the Care Center since a week ago. She thinks she's been there a month now and only has two more to go, then she can come home.
Sad, sad thing this ugly disease...

But this story has a different twist to it. Most people with Alzheimer's are basically good, sweet and *normal* before it hits, then get mean and ornery. Not Wanda....
I've never known her to be so nice, sweet and humble. It's just the opposite in her case.

Ok, more cleaning needed at dad's...lots more. All I can say is I've seen what multiple generations of dust bunnies look like....they are not cute :(

But hey, it's been nice and balmy (in the desert??), ok, more like overcast, it's getting closer to August when I may be in housing and I got a great shot through the window just about sundown.

Ok, maybe great wasn't the word to use.

But life is good as it should be right now.

FROM THE DORM...

OH MAN!...

I've been running around like some mad woman all week. But what needed doing got done, more on this later...

Today was Dugway's 4th of July Celebration. They 'Opened The Gates' which means they let anyone on base that had an I.D. which put the post on High Security Alert..even the door into this building was locked (the one before the red one in the picture) so I had to have my key to even get through there! I think they expected a bigger crowd than what they got.

I went with Rello and Tonya for a bit, listened to the live band they had, sat and watched people...one of my favorite past times :)  then came back here to the dorm.

Heard the fireworks a bit ago while I was finishing my very late ALPHABETHURSDAY post over on CHANGE in a BOTTLE, and now it's way past bedtime, got to get to bed!

So that's where I am.

FROM THE DORM

IT'S HOT AND MUGGY IN HERE.

THE WALL UNIT IS TRYING IT'S BEST TO BLOW COLD COOL AIR.

TOOK MY STEP MOM TO THE CARE CENTER TODAY.

THINK I'LL START COUNTING THE CINDER BLOCKS SURROUNDING ME.

TAKES MY MIND OFF THE OTHER REALITY...

MAYBE I'LL JUST GO TO BED.

FROM THE DORM...

BREAKING NEWS!

We're all looking at the same moon tonight!

Awesome...

Ok, not such new news, but a little while ago I happened to look out the window
and saw this..

Now remember, I'm in the Dorm and this is through the window.

And here's another shot a little bit ago..

I understand there's going to be a partial eclipse tonight?
Maybe it's already happened...

I just thought I'd share a look at the moon as I sit here on a Friday, eating pasta way too late at night, reading blogs, in The Dorm...

Not much else happening here anyway.

Hope you're looking too...

6/21/10

FROM THE DORM...

Well, here it is almost bedtime and I'm sitting in the Dorm, in that chair you can kind of see there by the computer, with a paper plate full of carrot cake, and shoving it in my mouth, drinking some water along the way. That just means I'll be up to visit Miss Loo in the night. What a life...

No, I didn't make the cake. My niece had a BBQ for her 'headed to Iraq' Hubby and I got some leftovers.

Had to make a trip to town today after work and remembered I need a laundry basket. So off to Walmart I went. It will make life easier when I trudge down the cement stairs to the basement again.

I survived another day to tell about it. Only thing different was one of the doors on that big wooden storage thing was open wider, full of stuff. Didn't take the camera this time so you'll just have to imagine...stuff.

Well, I just heard TAPS out of the open window so I know it's ten o'clock. That's such a sad melancholy tune. I can imagine the men during the Civil War listening to it.....

Oh, remember this ?

Yep, I have a story about losing it......

Next time.

See ya Yesterday........

6/16/10

FROM THE DORM...

Fast post tonight cause I had to be in class over on CHANGE IN A BOTTLE

Just wanted to show you what it looked like from the Dorm window earlier.

This is the parking lot..

Still looking through the blinds..and this is zoomed. That's actually the Golf Course across a field and the highway.

Ok lifted the blinds....
There's the parking lot here at the dorm, a road, an empty field, then the road that goes out of and comes into Dugway, then the Golf Course.

And it's rainy...still.

Hey, do you see what I see?

Can you tell now?

Not often you can see bubbles dancing in the puddle :)

Ok, more tomorrow. Maybe it'll be a sunny day.....

See ya Yesterday..
