LOVEABLE QUIRKY PEEPS

6/18/10

WALKING BACKWARD...

It's going to be one of those Fridays when there's not enough time to do all that's needing to be done....

So, how about I just leave this with you for now and be back asap....

Do you remember when...?

All the girls had ugly gym uniforms?

It took five minutes for the TV warm up?

Nearly everyone's Mom was at home when the kids got home from school?

Nobody owned a purebred dog?

When a quarter was a decent allowance?

You'd reach into a muddy gutter for a penny?

Your Mom wore nylons that came in two pieces?

All your male teachers wore neckties and female teachers had their hair done
every day and wore high heels?

You got your windshield cleaned, oil checked, and gas pumped, without asking, all
for free, every time? And you didn't pay for air? And, you got trading stamps to boot?

Laundry detergent had free glasses, dishes or towels hidden inside the box?

It was considered a great privilege to be taken out to dinner at a real restaurant with your parents?

Life then seemed so slow and easy, yet we all tend to remember just the good times. They had the bad stuff too,  just different.

Enjoy your Friday and I'll try to post something for the dorm later tonight.

Tell me about it. One of those gosh awful Fridays...community meeting at 10:30, group at 11, then traveling one hour to a training at 1 and an hour and a half trip home.

Oh, I do,I do...remember it all.
All that & more. Ice blocks for the fridge, signs put up in the window when you needed more.
Wreaths on doors signaled a death & wake inside.
Signs in windows to show your support of a loved one being in the service away fighting a war.
The colored cream mom put on her legs to resemble nylons.
The scraps of bars of soap being put in a special made basket to swish through the dish water.
The hand pump to get water & the outhouse.
Food ration stamps.
Vaudaville acts at the movie theater .
Thanks for letting me walk down memory lane with you.

I remember a few of those things...but they all sound delightful to me today.
Hope your day is better than you expect it to be.
