WEEK 8..PJ and Vicki Collaborate Chptrs 1-5

I'm participating in Saturday Centus,
hosted by JENNY MATLOCK

This week I'm collaborating with my good friend PJ at Scenes From The Backs Of My Eyelids to create what we like to think of as a rolling work, done in multiple chapters. The prompt in each chapter is blue:

Chapter One (Vicki)

Will we remember it all? It's so magical.

We've listened as Elphaba tells about the crazy things that can happen, dumb things we do, mistakes we'll make.

She says "It's imperative that you keep the number of take offs equal to the number of landings. And try to stay in the middle of the air. Do not go near the edges!"

Mercy leans over my shoulder and says
"Did you notice Elizabeth in class this morning and how forlorn she seemed?" Perhaps I will write her a comforting note, I thought.

Yet my thoughts linger on what we'll attempt tonight. Our time will be here soon.

We all look up when Elphaba says "You, you and you.....Panic! The rest come with me..."

Chapter Two (PJ)

Mercy and I were in the group following Elphaba!

I stared as we walked. My mind likened the color of Elphaba’s skin to the green peas my little brother threw up yesterday. She could wear all the long black robes she wanted, but nothing covered her face or hands. It didn’t frighten me, though. I held her in high esteem. She was power incarnate.

My eyes continued scanning and locked on Elphaba’s broom. Tonight we would solo on our own! My stomach did somersaults.

Mercy leans over my shoulder again and whispers, “Did you notice Elizabeth in class this morning and how forlorn she seemed?” Perhaps I will write her a comforting note, I thought. But that thought vanished once more - like magic.

Chapter Three (Vicki)

We all took a silent gulp of the deep black night air. This is what we've longed for all our lives. Like others dream of their wedding day, we covet this night.

I glance at the moon with it's halo and remember Auntie Galinda's warning of doom during a storm "If you haven't melted yet, you're about to."

I glance at Mercy knowing her mind is in the same realm.

The ancient door creeks open as Elphaba's arm waves, disturbing the air around it.

Silent gasps are felt among us as our novice eyes open wide.

I hear Olivia whisper, “Did you notice Elizabeth in class this morning and how forlorn she seemed?” Perhaps I will write her a comforting note, I thought.

Chapter Four (PJ)

Twelve wide eyes quickly focused on six straw brooms, each leaning up against the old stone wall. I can’t speak for anyone else, but the hair on my arms rose in concert with the small hairs on the back of my neck.

Elspatha broke my enchantment. “Tonight you’ll each be doing a touch and go. Take off from here, circle the moon, touch back down here and then immediately go once more. Heed the moon’s halo and beware the edges of the air.”

Mercy was becoming annoying. "Did you notice Elizabeth in class this morning and how forlorn she seemed?" Perhaps I will write her a comforting note, I thought. For the umpteenth time!

“Mercy, Elizabeth’s mood is sure to improve after this.”

Chapter Five (Vicki)

Mercy, Olivia, Elizabeth and I watch as Elphaba leaves first, then Elspatha and Gretchen.

We look at the moon, the brooms and each other. We straddle, lock our knees...and it happens.

The exhilaration, the wonderment, the air trapped in my lungs. Up around the shadow of the moon, feeling the earth at my feet, then away again.

Crisp magical air upon my skin, thoughts focused on the edges. I fail to hear it at first. Then it cackled across the sky.

Gasping, snorting, uncontrollable giggles coming from...where?

I look down, then remember these words ..

"Did you notice Elizabeth in class this morning and how forlorn she seemed?" Perhaps I will write her a comforting note, I thought.

Oh, this is hilarious!

Keep Smilin:)

This was a tough prompt to keep having to put in each Centus lol. You both did such a good job. Can't wait for the ending.

I cannot believe that each chapter contains the prompt is such a non-repetitive way. It feels like I am reading it for the first time with each chapter.

Amazing.
