LOVEABLE QUIRKY PEEPS

ANOTHER MEMORY....

Did you sit in front of the old black and white singing along and snapping your fingers?

It's sure one of my memories...
And if you grew up hearing the good ol county songs like I did, you know the words to this one too. And you'll remember the man...

FERLIN HUSKY

NASHVILLE, Tenn.  a pioneering country music entertainer in the 1950s and early '60s known for the hits "Wings of a Dove" and "Gone," died Thursday. He was 85.

The 2010 Country Music Hall of Fame inductee died at his home, said Country Music Hall of Fame spokeswoman Tina Wright. He had a history of heart problems and related ailments.  He had been under intensive care for several days.

Truly one of the greats of Country music, and a great individual who helped foster the careers of many others.

“There were a lot of years when nobody in the business could follow Ferlin Husky. He was the big live act of the day. A great entertainer.”

-- Merle Haggard

I do remember. I loved "On the Wings of a Dove". My goodness, though, I've not thought of him in years. May he rest in peace.

Country was the music I heard least often growing up, but as I became exposed to it, I grew to love it.

I love the last photo with all the greats.

I have a thing about the the 17th of the month.....it's spooky.

Oh dear, sometimes being a Yankee has its drawbacks... I didn't know of this Country Music Great. Love the YouTube links! Thank you for edu-ma-catin' me. And now that I listen to him, I can appreciate that he was an original and an influence on so many other people who came afterwards. He was good lookin', too... Dang, thanks, Jake! I hope Ferlin is jamming with his buddies now, and Nanciellen is, too.
