F is for FAUX...
And I know you're pronouncing it FO, right?
Well, not in my world. The story is....
Way back when, somewhere in Belgium in the 1600's, this guy named Faux (which since it's a French name was pronounced FO..) migrated into France for awhile. Well, for ages.
Then somewhere down the centuries, another man with the same DNA decided to leave France, for whatever reason, and ended up in England. His name was John Faux. But since he was in England now, well, when in Rome....
Anyway, the name became *Londonized* and was pronounced the same as the English name of Fawks. As in Guy Fawks...ummm, ya.
So, on down the genetic line of John Faux (Fawks) was a Jabez Faux who decided it was time for a Faux to migrate again, and came to America.
( which now could be pronounced FOX)
And still winding down that genetic string of Fauxes, came ME!
So....F is for FAUX... (not FO!)
And the rest of the story will be told HERE someday in the near future...

Great post! I like learning and I am not spring chicken! LOL!
Some people in my husband's family pronounce our name differently. I always thought that was weird but I guess it does happen LOL.
Great post! It's interesting how names change through the years. Thanks for sharing this information.
I totally enjoyed your post!
That was fun!
The history of names is so interesting in North America, where so many of us adapted our names for easier pronounciation.
Fabulous post. Family stories are so Fun! I love to see how words and names evolve over time!
Fab post :)
Geez, I had no idea! How funny =)
Love to learn something new! Thank Fo that!
That is funny...The USA is sure full of alot of people that changed the spelling of their names in order to be "politically correct" or to fit in socially!!
There is alot to be learned if we only had the time to study our history. Thanks for sharing.
I used to live in Birmingham England and was then know as John "forks" and since living in Australia and now the USA -I changed it to John "foe".
Cheers
