LOVEABLE QUIRKY PEEPS

H is for....HUMP

Good Morning Mrs Matlock...
Are you smiling at me today?

Oh, YOU ARE!

Ok, Ok, I'll behave..

Today is ALPHABETHURSDAY .....the letter is..H
And in my book H is for...HUMP!

So many HUMP things to share with ya.....

You know, like.....

This guy with his HUMP.

And his buddy here with double the  HUMPs

Heck,(an H word).. even shadows have...

...HUMPs!

Then there's these guys...

Yeah, ya don't want to get in the path of their HUMP!

Oh, and I bet ya know about this guy and his HUMP...

Rodeo Time!

Now there's a real Man's Man!
And yes, I'm talking about the Rodeo Clowns...
Have ya ever seen them guys in action?
They'll take the HUMP right outta them Bulls!

Hey, how about HUMPback Whales...

They're called HUMP Backs cause when they come up out of the water, they HUMP their bodies and dive back down. And they're HUGE (another H word) See...
Size relative to a bus:
Illustration: Humpback whale compared with bus
Did ya know they sing? Yeah, really...

Here's a  little info I found...

Type:
Mammal
Size:
48 to 62.5 ft (14.6 to 19 m)
Weight:
40 tons (36 metric tons)
Protection status:
Endangered
And if you go here you can read more about them...
and then hear them sing here

Another HUMP we all know and love,
The one sitting on the wall...
Ummmmm....or not...

Good 'ol HUMPty Dumpty himself :P

And then the ones we HATE (another H!)
And we sometimes cuss at...

Ever heard of ZEBU CATTLE?

They have a HUMP too...even the baby has a little HUMP..see it?
If ya want to learn more about them, go here

And Oh, I couldn't do the H thing without including this
HEARTTHROB (yep, another H)
 Engelbert HUMPerdinck...awwww

Be still my HEART (insert smile)

(born Arnold George Dorsey; (what? Who?) May 2, 1936
(wow, hooda guessed) is a popular music singer who became famous internationally during the 1960s and 1970s, after adopting the name of the famous German opera composer Engelbert Humperdinck as his own stage name. Now you can...
WATCH HIM HERE!

Ok, there's the H stuff we all know....but have you ever heard of....

A HUMP yard?

Here's one guy who didn't either, so he asked someone..

What does "DO NOT HUMP" mean on the side of railroad cars?

July 4, 1986
Dear Cecil:
Whilst driving around recently a friend and I got stuck at a railroad crossing waiting for a freight train to go by. To pass the time, we began speculating on the meaning of a sign we saw on some of the cars saying DO NOT HUMP. We conjectured that this might be some sort of safe-sex campaign organized by the railroads in the wake of the AIDS crisis, but eventually rejected the idea. So we put it to you, Cecil--what is the meaning of this odd instruction?
Dear Gene:
I am saddened to report that DO NOT HUMP does not have any of the off-color significance that seems to give many of the Teeming Millions their principal reason to go on living. It refers to a common method used to sort freight cars known as "HUMPing," which involves the use of a man-made hill, or HUMP. A track heads up the hill and branches into numerous parallel tracks on its way down the other side. It's a switch yard in a railway system that has a HUMP or steep incline down which freight cars can coast to prescheduled locations. Also known as gravity yard.

So, there ya have it..

But I bet you didn't know about......

HUMP FLYING...
In these....
If ya want to learn what the Pilots did during WWII,

Go HERE to meet Meet Bob

Then there's the poem "The Camel's Hump"
by Rudyard Kipling
1865-1936, ....written in 1890

Here's a little part of it...

The Camel's HUMP is an ugly lump
Which well you may see at the Zoo;
But uglier yet is the HUMP we get
From having too little to do.

So, stay BUSY!!!

Then there's this place..

The HUMP Restaurant in Santa Monica California, where it will cost you about $250 to eat raw stuff, like Octopus, Engawa (that's the muscle that controls the fin of some fish), or Crushed Oysters and BBQ eel...among other Sushi stuff...
I just heard they're in trouble for serving WHALE MEAT...Shame on them!!

Oh, and the HUMP Hostel (Hotel) in China,
Highly recommended...

Ummmm...ok.....

How about back home in Camel HUMP Wyoming?

Never heard of it? Me neither, and I couldn't find any pictures of it.
But I'd bet their Hotel accommodations aren't lacking...ummm..
good mattresses..

While I was looking for Camel HUMP I found this....
and it's in Wyoming...

Devils Tower, Now I'd say that's quite a HUMP of a rock.

Well,  Mrs Matlock is giving me *That Look* again
cause I used up all the chalkboard...
So I guess I better give some honor to..

HAPPY HUMP DAY!

An American English idiom for Wednesday is "humpday" a reference to making it through to the middle of the work week as getting "over the hump." (via Wikipedia)

I guess that means I got over the HUMP this week

And Hopefully Mrs Matlock didn't get too nervous
when she first read what my *H* word was....
(giggle giggle)

See ya next week Mrs M   :P

What a versatile word and creative post. So glad you remembered the fliers. We're partial to the Flying Tigers and their "flying the Hump" excursions. I love whales.
