CHANGE in a BOTTLE...S is FOR...

Well now here it is, time for the letter S in Mrs Matlocks Alphabethursday Class .
Use that link to go see what's going on this week.

Now this could a been interesting for me. I mean, I could a went with the SOPHISTICATED words like:

SAPIENTIAL: providing wisdom

SANCTENIMITY holiness of mind

Naw, not likely on this blog....

It would be more like..

SATURNALIAN:  riotously merry

SAPROSTOMOUS:  having bad breath

So, keeping true to my form..or whatever,
I'm gonna use the words

SILLY STRANGE STUFF! Like these...

The worlds oldest piece of chewing gum is over 5000 years old!

Sure don't look like gum to me. Nothing telling us if it was found underneath some neolithic table..

A sneeze travels out of your mouth at over 100 m.p.h

Sure didn't seem that fast, huh....Hey, this could be related to that word
SAPROSTOMOUS..

Did you know men are 6 times more likely to be struck by lightning than women!

Hmmm, wonder why.....

It is estimated that millions of trees in the world are accidentally planted by squirrels who bury nuts and then forget where they hid them!

Think maybe they know?

How about Ernest Vincent Wright..

he's the guy who wrote a novel, "Gadsby",
which contains over 50,000 words --

none of them with the letter E! here's how they say he did it...

As well as having to avoid common words such as 'the', 'he', and 'she', Wright made the task particularly hard for himself by setting Gadsby in the past tense, while avoiding the verb ending '-ed'. He also made valiant attempts to include objects that ordinarily require the letter E, such as a horse-drawn fire engine; he achieved this by describing the object without quite naming it. Wright never saw his work in print - he died at the age of 66 on the day it was published.

Ok, I think we need some cool STUFF now...

The long, thin fibers you see here are really elongated cells of the pine tree.

The trees are cut down, chipped up and pounded to separate the fibers from the rest of the tree material. What you're looking at is....Toilet Paper. You'll remember this the next time you reach for the Charmin...hehe

So, do ya have a cat..or two..or more?

The cat flea feeds on the blood of humans as well as that of cats. The flea is flattened from side to side and this, along with the spines on its head, allows it to move rapidly through the fur of the cat. Unlike the compound eyes of most insects, fleas have either simple eyes or no eyes at all. Here Kitty Kitty....

And this is...
The bristles of your mascara brush, covered with dried mascara and flakes of skin.
Maybe it's Maybelline...

And what may I ask is this hairy looking thing? Yep...

While some areas of our skin appear to lack hair (e.g., on the forehead and nose), they actually have tiny, colorless hairs called vellus hairs. We have about as many hairs per square inch on our nose and forehead as we do on the top of our head—we just don’t notice them. Ok now, cross your eyes and look at your nose....

Now for some of that
SATURNALIAN STUFF...

A rat can last longer without water than a camel.

Your stomach has to produce a new layer of mucus every two weeks or it will digest itself.

A female ferret will die if it goes into heat and cannot find a mate.

Chewing gum while peeling onions will keep you from crying.

During the chariot scene in "Ben Hur," a small red car can be seen
in the distance (and Heston's wearing a watch).

On average, 12 newborns will be given to the wrong parents daily! (That explains a few mysteries....)

There are no words in the dictionary that rhyme with orange, purple and silver.

Astronauts are not allowed to eat beans before they go into space
because passing wind in a spacesuit damages them.

If one places a tiny amount of liquor on a scorpion, it will instantly go mad and sting itself to death. (Who was the sadist who discovered this??)

By raising your legs slowly and lying on your back, you cannot
sink into quicksand. Don't think I'll try to see if it's true..

Charlie Chaplin once won third prize in a Charlie Chaplin look-alike contest....huh?

An old law in Bellingham, Washington, made it illegal for a woman to take more than three steps backwards while dancing!

Bats always turn left when exiting a cave!
The first couple to be shown in bed together on prime time TV were Fred and Wilma Flintstone.  Yabba Dabba Doo!

It is impossible to lick your elbow.

At least 75% of you will try to lick your elbow.

Ok, one more and then I gotta get to recess,

PJ's waiting for some of that
SAPIENTIAL STUFF...

 wonder if she's feeling some
SANCTENIMITY....

Keep SMILIN...

Wow! All that learning left me needing a nap!! MWAHAHAHA!

That old gum looked like a petrified turd.

And, is that true about the Great Gatsby? That's nearly magical! I've not read it. I need to work on that.

I'll have to send Stu over here to read this. He loves trivia.

Nice job, Jake!!

OMG, some stuff I'm never going to look at the same way again. I'd like to know who ever thought to put music to that sneezing video. Someone with too much time on their hands I suppose. Great S post.

I'm in the 25% who didn't try to lick my elbow. I did, however, spend way too much time trying to come up with words that rhyme with orange, purple, and silver. I could do it if I was allowed to use Dr. Suess.
