LOVEABLE QUIRKY PEEPS

BOSTON...DAY 6

Wow it's here, Saturday.

And my last day in Boston......

So we caught the subway and headed downtown to see...

Faneuil Hall.
We sat inside and listened as a guide told of it's history and took questions. The paintings and portraits are amazing, and knowing what took place inside those walls is breathtaking...

I learned how it was the meeting place for so many political and historical speeches. Anyone who was ever anyone. Every President has stood at that podium and spoke, from Washington to Obama.

Even women like ...

Lucy Stone.  (would have been something to have been there and heard her speak....) and others of the Suffrage movement. There's a Memorial Walk nearby with historys about some of them . Here's a link .. I had no idea there were so many brave women back then...

Also saw the site of the Boston Massacre.....Link

We left there and walked through here...(not a good picture)
The QUINCE COLONNADE. Long and full of lots of everything. Good thing for my wallet I was with someone who wasn't a shopper:)

After that was the CUSTOMS HOUSE,
which is now a fancy Merriot Hotel.
We sat and waited for a guide to take us, along with a few other brave souls, to the 26th floor...

WAY UP THERE !!
Took two different elevator's to get us there...
where you can walk out onto an observation deck.
I'm not a fan of heights. But I wasn't going to admit it...

Although someone else took these pictures, I stood in the same place and saw the same things...
and it was WINDY! Looked like some crazed banshee with all my hair flying around:)

Here's Wikipedia's link for more info...

Then on to the TRINITY CHURCH.
More beauty to behold :)

This is a meeting place for the Episcopalian faith. And the features are gorgeous to say the least. Humbles a person to enter into this awesomeness..

We finally decided we should find someplace to fill our growling bellies. Russ knew the perfect place, by way of the BOSTON PUBLIC GARDEN.
Walking along and seeing all that hidden beauty among the city, I decided I could be homeless for a summer and camp out there:) Here's a link with more pictures. You'll see why I'm packing my tent...

Ok, where did we go eat?

OMG...I have NEVER been to such a fun, nostalgic place to eat. Talk about walking back into the 40's and 50's. It smelled soooo good in there! And the food?  I WANTED TO ORDER EVERYTHING! But settled on, of all things, Shepherds Pie:) I wanted the Corned Beef and Cabbage too....
So that's what Russ ordered and we each had a taste of both.

I won't leave a link to this awesome place cause I'll be doing a post about it on CHANGE in a BOTTLE this week for Jenny Matlocks Alphabethursday. I hope you'll visit there and drool along with everyone:)

So, after filling ourselves with food and desert, we caught the subway back to Sommerville, changed into something more presentable, got back on the train and headed to BOSTON SYMPHONY HALL for the second time. This time it was much more formal. The Boston Symphony Orchestra playing the music of Robert Schumann...
who had quite an, ummm, unfortunate life and died at the young age of 46. Quite interesting...here's another link:)  And the music? Wonderfully soothing...as Classical music can sometimes be. I loved it.

And now I can say I sort of hobnobbed with the upper class...
I didn't drink a class of wine at intermission...they would have had to escort me out :)
And I didn't arrive in a black limo.
But I was in the company of the best person to kick around Boston with,
who knew just where to take me,
and knew all the answers to my questions..even when I didn't ask them :)
And most importantly....
he knew which trains to catch so we could get back to the apartment!

I slept good that night, woke early Sunday morning and caught a flight out of Logan Airport headed West...

After seeing so many wonderful things, eating the most scrumptious food; the best being at PJ's house, and visiting with some of my favorite people, it was time to head back to reality.....

I can never thank PJ, her family, or my cousin Russ enough for the most awesome memories of my life.
I am blessed. Even more so cause I have you here to share all of this with...
And now I can come back here anytime and remember.....

Truly blessed.....

Wow! Looks like you had an awesome time and you saw a lot in Boston! It also showed me how many places I still have to visit when I go up there. The Boston Symphony - how cool is that!
Some day I'll have to upload my photos of my Boston visits to Picasa, so you can check them out.
I loved your description!
