K IS FOR...THE GOAT LADY!

aYep, you read it right, K is for.....

SOMETHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY FOR ME....
SOMETHING SERIOUS
SOMETHING AWESOME
SOMETHING HEARTWARMING
SOMETHING EVEN PJ CAN'T GET ME IN TROUBLE FOR THIS WEEK!

Kinda looks like the letter S huh....

BUT IT ISN'T...IT'S THE LETTER K this week for
Jenny's Alphabethursday and if you click here you'll see..

Didja go see her? Is Mrs Matlock smilin?
She will be after she see's this...

Alright, here we go...

THE LETTER K STANDS FOR...

KAZIAH HANCOCK...

Never heard of her? Even if you have, you're in for a treat..
Let me introduce you to Kaziah, one very special lady on a very amazing journey.

In December 1985, Kaziah Hancock stood on the steps of the courthouse in Salt Lake City and yelled, for everyone to hear, "Thank you God, I’m free!" She had no concept of freedom. Born into polygamy 34 years earlier and raised in what she describes as mental chains, it would be another 15 years before she could slough off the shackles off the prison in her mind and begin her journey toward freedom and success.

"At times it has been more degrading than being dipped in a barrel of pus and maggots," she exclaims. "Many times along the way I have asked myself and God, "Is it worth it?" Kaziah even pondered suicide, but cowardly she is not; it didn’t seemed to her like a brave thing to do. She found other ways to protect herself when life became just too much.
"Yes, it has all been worth it," she says. "I’m finally free and will be forever free." Read More..

She calls herself the "Goat Woman" because it was the goat milk that saved her as a child when her mother was ill. Now days she raises goats and sheep on her lovely ranch in Manti - they are her "babies."

KAZIAH has been drawing, by her accounts, all of her life. She was doing remarkable pencil portraits at only fifteen years old - but when she was given into a polygamist marriage - her art was taken from her. She "escaped" nearly eighteen years later and began, again, to explore her passion for art.   Read More..

KAZIAH has also written a book titled..'Prisons of the Mind' This is a must read for any woman... You'll be amazed at what she went through.

I met KAZIAH a few years ago when I worked at the local C-Store and she stopped to fill up her little red truck. I had no idea who she was, just that she had long hair, wore a 'duster' (coat) and an old brown hat with a rim. She came in to pay and stayed a minute just talking about the weather and how she loved the land around here and just friendly little chatter. She stopped by a few other times and always came in to talk. She has the most friendliest smile and laugh. Then she didn't stop anymore and I didn't think much of it until I read in the local newspaper about her...both broke and warmed my heart.

Since then she's pretty well known around here and now all over the country, if not the world. I hope you've clicked on the links and learned some more about KAZIAH. She's kinda rough around the edges and says what she thinks ( I love that) yet at the same time she's very tenderhearted.

Her most heartwarming art is for people she's never met.  I don't need to say a lot here, just watch the video....

If you still have dry eyes, somethings wrong with ya....

You can see all the Fallen Soldier paintings KAZIAH has done HERE
just click on 'Project Compassion Gallery' at the top of the page to see them.

Now I want to share a picture of her painting a Soldier. It hangs in the Museum I've talked about over in Fairview..the one with the Mammoth. I took this last time me and the grand kids visited.

Some Info on the Portrait..

And then this 'Self Portrait'

Funny how she see's herself....

I think she's beautiful.

She'd say "Hell ya, I clean up pretty damn good don't I.."

I hope you've fallen in love with KAZIAH...

How could you not...

See ya next week.

That was so interesting. I think I saw a news thing about her once painting portraits of the soldiers. I, however, didn't know her back story. I will have to read more about her. She seems like an amazing woman. Thanks for sharing this.

I had never heard of Kaziah but, as a forensic RN who worked in the field of sexual assault for the past 21 years, I've met many brave women, men and children who overcame incredible odds and survived. She is one incredible lady with a huge talent. That she is so generous to help families heal from their loss is so wonderful.

Thanks for bringing her to my attention this week. It is good to know that there are still people like this in the world.
