LOVEABLE QUIRKY PEEPS

Alphabesillies with Jake....

HAHAHA! ya Hafter watch aller thisun.....

Hey, that's talent!

Now I'm getting away from the sillies here for a minute.
Cause this is something a little more serious
Guess it's my rant on a couple of blog issues that irratate me and this is where I'll let them out!

First is the chalkboard grinding, absolutely irritating to me Word Verification that some of you still use. It's so not needed anymore! I love visiting blogs, but from now on I will be reading but not commenting on those with the word veri still there. Sorry, but it takes time away from reading other posts and even more if I try to hurry and mistype (:P) a letter...grrrr!  I've posted about it before, I know. But this time I'm going to just give you a link to someone who tells it like it is. PLEASE, if you still have this on your blog, go read what blogger Jill Samter has to say. She's also updated it with some info about replying to comments you leave on blogs via your email. Great info, thanks Jill...

Now for my other little rant....

Anyone who has followed me the last few years knows I love music. I've used it on most of my Alphabethursday posts. So this isn't a rant about music. It's about the little Playlist thing that many of you use on your blog. Remember, I. love. music... But not always what you love. And not always when I'm concentrating on what I'm reading...my mind works that way sometimes:) It also slows down my computer and it takes longer to load your page. So PLEASE, P.L.E.A.S.E. put your PLAYLIST either on top or close enough to the top of your sidebar so if some of us would rather turn it off, we can. That gives us the choice, which I love. It also gives us the choice to maybe pick another song to listen to if you have a list:)

Ok, thanks for letting me vent on some issues this week. Any and all comments on these subjects are welcome...without needing to use word veri and listening to head banging music:)

Love the outfits on those misfits!

As for the word verification, you may find this hard to believe, but I didn't even realize I had that turned on... it seems I did, (Thanks Jill) - pretty funny seeing as I always groan when I come across it on other blogs, lol!! I have to admit that I really detest playlists - especially when they are located at the bottom of the page.

My rule is that I try and type the letters once, but only one time. If I've read or typed wrong that's it...I'm gone.

I keep my volume turned down, but my computer is kind of slow and I do have trouble sometimes.

My pet peeve is when people link their post to a whole bunch of different parties and sometimes I can't figure out what their post has to do with Alphabe-Thursday. I usually skip those.

love music as well and some of the older stuff is the best stuff going

That's why I really didn't want to put the playlist on and then somebody reminded me of the youtube thing and that works well. If they want to hear it, they can turn it on. I simply cannot read and listen to television or music. My brain won't do both. I put some pioneer music on my Mormon Trek blog but that seemed to go with it. Heck - even when I get on that I turn it off.

Well, I learned something new from you. Sorry, ...I didn't even know you could turn that word verification thing off or on - guess I'm still pretty green about a lot of stuff in the blogging world, but I'm still learning...

Ha Ha, now I know why you like my playlist at the top and actually I'm the same way! I love music but not everyone Else's playlists and hate having to scroll all the way to the bottom to turn it off! Now I'm going to make sure I turned off the word verification thingie, I thought I had but guess I need to check! Nan

Thanks for the rant !I needed the info and I'll check to see if I still have word veri thing on...I forgot I still have my playlist on...I guess that can be really annoying and mucho thanks for commenting in spite of it all !!!

Hugs,

I hear ya! The blackboard verifications are ridiculous. I go blind trying to figure them out.

That verification drives me nuts! So I try hard to avoid them! Music is great too but I agree the mute button should be handy! Some time I am reading and the music bugs me! Good rants here! ENjoy the week!

Anything else you don't like, Vicky?

Love it... I don't like those word verification thingies either. They aren't even real words... although I do sometimes make up meanings for them:-) I hate when I type out my comment and then I have to try several times to get the verification right.... then something happens and it doesn't work & all goes away, including my comment:-( Then I have to start over or move on, ho hum... LOL

What a grump! You must be related to Maxine. I hear ya on the music it's unbearable. I turned off my verification words that was from your last rant? Anything else? :)

Hello.
The video is hilarious!
I hear you on word verification. Sometimes I have trouble reading what the actual letters are. It's a pain in the rear when you've got a lot of reading to do.
With regards to the music...I have it on my blog (I'm glad you like it), but there are some blogs where it is just too much. When I come across those blogs, I tend to leave right away.

It's good to let off some steam every now & then.
Thanks for sharing & visiting.

I agree with you very much ! this word verification is useless and doesn't keep spammers away ! I think I have never used it, or maybe at the very beginning when I didn't know what it was !
The music on blogs makes me crazy ! People just don't understand that you don't only blog at home and if you are in a public place or in a hospital room or in an office and suddenly then music blasts and wakes up everybody ! I turn my loudspeakers off when I am out of home !

Leovi said...

Yes, no doubt that video very funny.

I'm with you on both counts! They do take away the enjoyment of reading!

i too dont like the word verification bit hence dont use it on my blog as well...
the part two of it aah i havent yet come across such a blog:)

It almost pains me to watch those boys, but they sure strum a mean song! :-)

Maybe if enough of us rant this WV thing will go away. Some of my blogging friends have tried turning it off but have freaked the second a spam made it in.

The only thing worse than wasting time with WV is those blogs where the WV comes up AFTER you submit your comment. I bet half my comments on blogs like that never get posted because I don't even see them.

You are so right about the word verification and some music I don't like. What I never do is looking at you tube films, takes too much time and most of the times I am not interested. We all have our faults, right? LOL

Me again!

Just to add I do understand your objections to veri and will be really sorry if you can't visit any more!

Word verification is off, I don't have music........I'm golden!!

Well I am guilty of the music thing but I think my word verification is not on.
Several times I have wanted to just delete my music but I get people who like it so your suggestion makes sense.
I actually blog now with my sound off then I don't know if their music is on or not. haha
Great post and I admire you for letting it all out.
Love

The music thingy is what I dislike the most! Like you, I can't read the post, and hearing music blaring at the same time. It also startles me when I forgot to down the volume!

Verification drives me nuts too. Sometimes I type it in right and it still tell me it was wrong.

Rocky Mountain Woman said...

I'm with you on both. I also love music, but it kind of takes me back when it is a little too loud or just unexpected.

And word verification is a pain..

Gotta check and make sure I don't have it!

xxoo,

I'm with you on the word verification. I'm also to the point where I'm going to make your same rule. It just takes too long, and sometimes I make a typo and have to retype the verification word. Really annoying.

I do have music on my blog, but I keep the playlist close to the top.

=)

Great blog ideas. I usually have to mute the sound on my computer and really detest the word verifications.
I read Jill's post that you linked to - good advice.
I'm here through alphabe-Thurs.

I don't know what you are talking about. Everyone is perfect. Like me. And you. And that other girl.
is there a hole in the bottom of the sea? I don't get it. My head hurts now.

OMG, calm down! I'll have to go check and see if I have word verification. I had some really very bad comments left on my blog and had to set it to check the comments before publishing. I may have gone all the way and used veri as well. Okay, I hear you, I'll go turn it off if I have it!
And have a great weekend!

I love when people have the word verification AND moderate each blog post! before it's published.

Yeah, that's annoying.

Hi Vicki,

First of all, thanks so much for leaving comments on my blog. That certainly makes blogging extra special! :) Moreover, I completely understand that you won't come over to my blog anymore because I still prefer to have word verification. I tried to do without it, but it simply doesn't work for me. Thus I must simply live with bloggers staying away from my blog. As mentioned earlier, I understand your motivation. Personally, I don't mind spending about a quarter of a second typing that word verification to leave a comment at a friend's blog. It's like a little mind exercise -- hand eye coordination. Fortunately, we aren't all alike and all have our preferences -- each and everyone to his or her own!

Wishing you a word verification-free 2012,
Birgit
